When the weather gets hot in your corner of the world, you’ve got the perfect excuse to eat healthy foods more than any other time of year.
You can get an instant energy lift by eating lighter.
Eating lighter makes you feel cooler partly because your body isn’t weighed down with all those heavy, hard-to-digest foods.
Of course, you knew this:
I’m drinking more than twice the amount of water I normally drink in order to stay hydrated. I get a great feeling by sweating and then replacing that lost water with good, fresh, cool water. Good, pure water is worth paying extra to get, but delivery companies don’t always deliver what they say they will deliver. Plastic seeps into the water. Unfiltered municipal water supplies have been used which is the identical thing you can get from your tap. Simple filtration does little more than what you can do on your own. And water lines get cleaned with benzene and iso alcohol. Check out your water source before you purchase, especially when buying by a contract.
I bought a filtering water pitcher for the refrigerator. It uses straight tap water and the activated carbon filter clears out a few things from the water, so it tastes a lot better. Activated carbon can remove some contaminants , but it doesn’t do the heavy lifting job that a small micron filter can do.
Migraines
Nobody in my family had migraines, so it was a surprise when my brother had them. An alternative therapist told him to drink a lot of extra water. He was dehydrated without knowing it. He drank extra water every 15 minutes. He carried a water bottle with him everywhere and in 3 days his migraines went away. I wish this was the solution for everyone who has migraines.
Those can even remove viruses and some manufacturers legally can state they purify the water! That’s a legal term. Great water doesn’t come from just any source.
Little did I know that the survival industry has that together a lot better than anyone else. My birthday is coming up, so instead of a refrigerator pitcher, I’d like to get a hand held filter bottle that can go anywhere. They cost a little, but
it’s a little odd that I’ll eat junk food, let myself breathe around smokers, but I want water that is 100% pure. Go figure. Maybe it’s the heat wave.
Whether I do get that or not, I’m always looking for really great ways to easily get great, pure water. That’s me, so send me any better ideas you have. I’ll be happy to post them later on.
Good Rule Of Thumb – 1 Cup Every 15 Min
A sweaty workout rule of thumb is to drink at least one cup water every 15 minutes.
Aim for 1 to 2 gallons per day. Plan ahead. You control the water quality by bringing a bottle with you. When I go to the gym, I don’t like drinking from the water fountain. At the restaurant, I give in.
In sweltering weather this is a great rule to keep in mind. When things get too hot you can get dehydrated without knowing it. You may not even feel thirsty. Your sweat evaporates too fast. A headache in hot weather is often a first sign of dehydration, so take care of yourself and push the water to avoid getting dehydrated.
Drinking more water causes your body to release extra water weight, too. Good water makes a body run better.
Eat Less
The more food you eat makes your body generate more heat to process it. That’s what a calorie is all about.
Make A Big Chopped Salad
1. Chop your favorite vegetables into equal 1/4″ bits
2. Place in cool salad bowl.
3. Top it with cold, grilled salmon or cooked and cold, sliced chicken breast.
4. Skip the high fat dressings
5. Mix and toss with two parts apple cider vinegar, 1 part olive oil.
Sprinkle with one or two of your favorite seasonings. Enjoy with someone you love.
It’s low in calories. High in protein and healthy vegetables.
And it has great cooling power.
Heat Up Your Love Life With Summer Fruits
Varieties of summer berries and watermelon grow almost everywhere in the heat and are great healthy snacks that do a lot more good than sugary harm. Eat them fresh. Or mash them into ice cube trays topped with a Popsicle stick. Or turn them into blended drinks with fruit and ginger ale. All those antioxidants and extra vitamin K will do your body good. Keep them healthy and eat them cold!
Just a few years ago watermelon was advertised as the fruit kingdom replacement to viagra! Surprisingly, watermelon contains some important amino acids and vitamins in good enough quantities to make the difference noticeable. Be sure to juice or eat that rind, because that’s where there is more of the celebrated amino acid, l-citrulline, that is known to help the cause. When this first was marketed during watermelon harvest, watermelons went into short supply.
Cool Down With Green Vegetables
Green vegetables have fiber, so they give an extra feeling of fullness without the fat.
They are high in an array of vitamins and minerals that give the body just what it needs to fend off disease and rebuild in a healthy way. When in doubt, eat salad! And make it extra green!
Are you at a diet plateau or about to give into a binge. Hang on and find the green vegetables you like most that mixes with a light version of your favorite high fat dressing. Push through it for one more day and these magical vegetables can put you back on track. Why? Because they are naturally low in everything bad for you! Almost every vegetable is low in carbs and fat, and high in fiber. Each comes packaged with its special nutrient that makes that particular vegetable more worthy than the next. Many, like cucumbers, celery, and carrots are filled with extra water, so just by loading up on great vegetables, you’re giving your body a health rest for a few hours. What’s the noticeable benefit to you? More energy! And a super feeling that you just crushed through a craving attack by hanging on for one more day.
Salt – Put Away The Shaker
Few of us have a hard time getting enough salt. It’s added into most every prepared food in high amounts.
Become a label reader. Add up all the sodium that gets into a daily diet with just a few extra processed foods.
A 2000 calorie average daily diet allows 2400mg of sodium.
1/4 teaspoon salt = 600 mg of sodium.
It’s easy to sprinkle on more than a day’s maximum suggested amount of sodium throughout the day plus extra included in prepared products. Sodium is difficult to keep out of a meal.
and…Don’t Forget The Pets
Pets need extra water, too, when it gets extra hot.
